Keating Resources Agrees to Acquire 115,000 Sq Ft Facility in Rapid City, SD for Conversion into Multifaceted Leasable Space

Press, Real Estate | May 18, 2023

Gerard Keating, Chief Executive Officer of Keating Resources, is pleased to announce the firm’s agreement to acquire a 115,000 square foot property located at 1845 Haines Street, Rapid City, SD. The building, prominently positioned on a 10-acre lot adjacent to Interstate 90, was formerly inhabited by retail company Shopko.

Keating Resources plans to transform the existing structure into a multifunctional, climate-controlled facility, tailored to accommodate a diverse array of tenants. The redesigned space will offer leasing increments as small as 10,000 square feet, suitable for retail, showroom, advanced manufacturing, assembly, storage, and distribution purposes.

Anticipated to be ready for occupancy by August 1, the well-maintained concrete edifice represents the largest currently available building for lease in Rapid City. Keating Resources will be collaborating with local agency, Elevate Rapid, in sourcing potential occupants.

Keating highlighted the company’s success in adopting a similar strategy with a 25,000 sq ft building in Custer, SD, previously occupied by Shopko, and a 52,000 sq ft facility in Spearfish, SD, formerly used by Polaris Corporation. The CEO credited Rapid City Council members John Roberts and Lance Lehmann for their encouragement of the property’s repositioning, which is projected to generate over 25 quality employment opportunities and considerable sales tax revenue for the city.
